While dealing with comparison of new drug with the standard treatment one is faced with the problem of small numbers specially in phase-1 trials or pilot studies. The analysis of data in such situations requires special treatment. This paper presents the issues involved in the test of significance for the association of attributes for

small samples. It is recommended to use Fisher’s Exact Test in such situations.
